30 Day writing challenge: Day 26

The idea is to write 150-200 words a day for each prompt and to post it on this blog. At the end of the month, I’ll post the list of prompts if anyone is interested.

Prompt 26: Her chair.

Nancy had been staring at that spot for most of the day. Nothing would take out the wine stain. She had tried everything in her cupboard, and any tip she could find on Pinterest. She even got down on her knees to rub in some white wine. She cried a little as she did. It didn’t work. It made it bigger. She couldn’t have the carpet replaced. Tom almost had a fit from the bill the first time.

She turned around to look for something she could put over the stain. This was too much. She would have to rearrange the entire room to make it work!

“Why don’t you put the chair over it?” Nicky, the sidekick, asked.

“The chair? Next to the fireplace?”

“It’s not as if you ever light it.”

Nancy wanted to be upset by Nicky’s comment, but she had a point. Together, they pulled her favourite chair over toward the stain. With the bold black and white stripes of the chair she could barely see the stain.

“That’s much better,” Nicky said.

“But I still know that it’s there.”

Nicky left the room.
