The idea is to write 150-200 words a day for each prompt and to post it on this blog. At the end of the month, I’ll post the list of prompts if anyone is interested.
Prompt 24: Moonlight.
Bathed in moonlight, Ursula sat by the river with her new ring. She had been studying it all night. It had been several days since she had found it and she still couldn’t figure out its purpose. It was still secret. She was keeping it safe. Ursula was careful to only take it out to study when she was alone.
She wanted to know it’s secret. Why was it in that clearing, calling out to her? Why had no one else noticed it’s glistening?
It was starting to interfere with her work. She was there to make new discoveries and make a name for herself. She wasn’t there to be distracted by a piece of jewellery.
Ursula held it over the water, threatening to drop it into the river and let the current carry it away.
“What are you doing?” Jen’s voice came from behind. Ursula pulled back her hand, keeping the ring secret again. “You should be sleeping. We have a long hike ahead of us tomorrow.”
“I know,” she said.
Jen watched her and crossed her arms. “What’s really going on?”
Ursula sighed and held out her hand, revealing the ring. Jen’s eyes widened. She marched toward her grabbing the ring and throwing it into the water.
