The idea is to write 150-200 words a day for each prompt and to post it on this blog. At the end of the month, I’ll post the list of prompts if anyone is interested.
Prompt 22: All that glitters.
Ursula lifted her head toward flickering light that begged for her attention. She put down her journal. In the distance, between the trees, there was a small golden light that was moving. Ursula looked at the group. Most of them were asleep, and a the few that were still awake were busy jotting down what they had found that day. She picked up her camera and moved toward the light.
She told herself that it probably was just sunlight reflecting off of water. They had found so many water sources in the jungle. Ursula stopped where she thought the flickering was coming from. There wasn’t water around the area. Only a small clearing, where sunlight shone down on a patch of grass. It was a bit too manicured to be a coincidental circle. She took a few photos before turning to leave. She turned back again to have another look. She noticed a small golden object sticking out from the ground. It was a ring.
Ursula held it up and watched as sunlight made it glitter. It was so beautiful. She would keep her new find a secret from the others. Just for a little while.
